Ocean Maths Y1 Workshop

In September we held our Ocean Maths workshop for Y1 children.  Lots of parents, babies and grandparents came to take part in the maths session which was great!

We began with counting, firstly from zero to twenty in 1s, then counting in 2s and finally in 10s.

The first game we played was from Ocean Maths called ‘Footsteps.’

The next game we played was Incey Wincey Spider.  We played the game with a partner, one being the sunshine and the other the rain.  The object of the game was to get the spider to the top of the pipe, near the sunshine.

Mr Bartley and Miss Sobolewski played a bingo number game using one more than a number.

Later, we played ‘There’s a Hole in My Pocket.’  Some of the coins kept falling out of the pocket, so we were counting and putting the counters to one side.

It was a fun session and we look forward to the next one in January 2012!
