Literacy

Language is at the centre of all aspects of the curriculum; it is the medium through which we receive, process and communicate ideas, thoughts, information and feelings. The school teaches the National Literacy Strategy as recommended by the Government.

Various intervention strategies run to support children who are of lower than average ability to ensure they reach their full potential. The effect on attainment and progress is significantly raised as a result of quality small group provision in school.

Additional reading support is also offered to some children through Rainbow Reading, Reading Recovery and Better Reading schemes of work.
