Organisation of the school
Children are generally taught in mixed
ability age groups. However each child is taught according to his/her
individual needs. Each class teacher will give pastoral care in the first
instance.
The
actual organisation of each class is reviewed annually according to the current
number of children on roll and numbers of staff. This means that class
structures and staff may change from year to year.
Children
with learning difficulties are given as much help and attention as possible.
There is close liaison with the Learning Support Service and the County
Psychological Service.
The
teachers are based in three broad teams: Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key
Stage 2. This helps the children to move through the primary school more easily
and provides a consistency of teaching.
Appointments
with teachers
There
will be two open nights each school year, when every parent will be encouraged
to come and discuss their child’s work with the teacher. These meetings usually
take place in October and February.
Parents
who wish to see a particular teacher at other times should make an appointment
through the school clerks, Mrs. Tuck and Mrs Hunton.
